I was interviewed on a podcast

Hey Reader,

Something a little different this week.

I recently sat down with Ruben Stephen, a mechanical engineering student at MIT who runs his own tutoring operation on the other side of the continent.

He interviewed me for his LearnWell podcast, and we ended up talking for almost an hour and a half.

We covered how Heywood Academies got started, including the part where I quit my engineering job, moved to Australia for a year, and ran the business online while travelling a lap of the country.

We also got into how tutoring actually works behind the scenes.

How we figure out exactly where a student is stuck.

What I look for when hiring tutors, and why someone claiming they can tutor every course at the university is a red flag.

And why getting an A+ in a course and being able to teach that course are two very different things.

If you've ever been curious about the person behind the company, or you just want to hear two tutoring nerds compare notes, the full episode is on YouTube.

And as always, if you or someone you know needs help with math or science this summer, we'd be glad to help:
